Central Pa 358 Point Series

Congratulations to the 2009 Central PA 358 Point Champion Jeff Rohrbaugh. With only one race left in the 2009 racing season Jeff has a 73 point lead going into the last race at Lincoln Speedway. Jeff who is a 3 time track champion at Trail Way Speedway as well as the 2008 track champion at Lincoln Speedway can now add the Central PA 358 Point Series Championship to his resume. Jeff who never fell out of the top 10 all season, was 124 points behind the leader Blane Heimbach on May 11th was able to make his way back up the standings and take the lead on July 25th and lead the rest of the way. Even with his home track loosing 8 races throughout the season to rain, Jeff was still able to finish in the top 5 most of the races. For this Jeff will be crowned the first ever Central PA 358 Point Series Champion.

Jeff will recieve his trophy for wining the point title at a later date (hopefully next Friday night at Lincoln Speedway) as well as the $250 gift certificate from Delco Signs. Congratulations to Jeff , Roy and Theresa Vincent, as well as the entire crew on picking up the championship.

The rest of the top 5 is still up for grabs as 2nd through 5th can still change on Friday night. Check back this week for more on the Central PA 358 Point Series.

Central Pa 358 Point Series comes down to the wire.

This weekend we will see the the crowning of the 1st ever all round point champion for the 358 sprint car division. The point championship is still up for grabs as well as positions all throughout the standings. With 2 races left, many spots could be changed after Saturday (or Sunday) nights race at Lincoln Speedway.

Jeff Rohrbaugh hold a 73 point lead over 2nd place Brad McClelland. Brad who has 540 points holds a 10 point lead over 3rd place Dale Hammaker. Blane Heimbach is just 35 back form McClelland and 108 points out of the lead. Billy Dietrich rounds out the top 5 with 496 points.

With Blane being the only driver who is able to be handicaped at Williams Grove Speedway on Friday night, he has the chance of making the feature a lot easier then the others in the top 5 as they have not raced there enough to have a points average. Jeff's point lead will be safe from Blane as he could only pick up 100 points if he won both races this weekend. He is 108 points back for the leader. He could though (if he chooses to run at Lincoln) very well finish 2nd.

The point leader will have to be on his game though as McClelland will be at both tracks this weekend trying to score as many points as he can in hopes of catching Rohrbaugh for the championship. Brad will have to start in the back of his heat race, as will Jeff, and that will make it hard for him to make the feature, let alone score any points in the race.

The point leader, will be at the Grove and Lincoln trying to put some distance on the rest of the top 5. Jeff will run into the same problem as Brad in that he will have to start at the rear of his heat race. If you remember, Jeff did that the last time the 358's where at Williams Grove and he was a victom of a wreck at the start of his heat race, ending hs night before he even made it to the flag stand.

4 of the top 5 cars call Lincoln their Saturday night home, so they will all be up front gunning for the win.Rohrbaugh,Dietrich, and Hammaker are all point champions at Lincoln, and Brad is a 2 time winner at the track this season, so watch those cars closly on Saturday as every spot will mean something on the track.

Good luck to all the teams this weekend, and I hope it will be a sfae weekend for all.

Races for this coming weekend.

This coming weekend we see the final 2 races for the 358 sprint car division.

Williams Grove Speedway will play host to the 358 sprinters as they will decide their 2009 track champion at the end of the night. Cory Haas has a big lead going into the event, but anything can happen.

Saturday night Lincoln Speedway will host the 358 Sprints in their rain delayed 358 Sprint Championship. The race was scheduled on September 12th, but rain forced the race to this night, the last night of racing at the track. A rain date for the 2009 finale will be the following day, Sunday, October 18th at 6 PM

These 2 races will be the last 2 races for the Central PA 358 Point Series, so the teams will be trying to get every point they can to move up in the standings.
