Thirty-nine years to the day after his grandfather (Bobby Allen) scored the 24th of his 75 career wins at Lincoln, Logan Schuchart drove to his first career win in the 20-lap "358" sprint car feature.
"This is the only place I ever wanted to be," said a jubilant Schuchart in victory lane, "Pappy has taught me so much, and this has been a lifelong dream!"
Schuchart started tenth and was already in third by the end of the third lap. He got by third-starting Denny Gross on lap four.
Rick Horn grabbed the lead from his outside front row starting spot and led the first five laps before Schuchart made the race-winning pass on lap six.
Horn hung onto second for the next six laps before ninth-starting Glenndon Forsythe grabbed the runner-up spot. Forsythe got one last chance with a 17th-lap caution, but could never catch the Kitty Hawk Restaurant/Speedway 94 #1s.
Horn faded to sixth at the end, with Doug Hammaker, points leader Dale Hammaker, and 21st-starting Adrian Shaffer completing the top five.
Heats for the 36 "358" Sprints were won by Jan Luckenbaugh, Horn, Gross, and Doug Hammaker, with Shaffer winning the consolation.
