Cannon Returns To Winning Form For 6th Time

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Pat Cannon of Etters drove to his sixth win of the season in Saturday night’s 25-lap 358 sprint car feature at Selinsgrove Speedway. The victory marked the 23rd of Cannon’s career at the track and helped him pad his points lead entering next weekend’s racing action. Only five points separated him and Blane Heimbach of Selinsgrove going into
Saturday’s show.

Cannon, driving the Highlands’ Tire & Service Center No. 3, also won Friday night’s 358 sprint car feature at Williams Grove Speedway. He has 11 wins on the season now and leads the Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic Central PA 358 sprint car series.

On the first lap of the sprint car feature, Cody Keller, Josh Beard, Matt Horst, TJ Stutts, and John Troxell were involved in a turn four tangle. When the race restarted, polesitter Matt Heimbach powered into the lead.

By lap three, 12th-place starter Pat Cannon passed fifth-place starter Ryan Kissinger and moved into fourth. On the seventh circuit, Cannon moved by sixth-place starter Jason Shultz for third and quickly reeled in second-place starter Bob Beidleman for the race for second.

On lap eight, Cannon won the battle for second and set his sites on M.Heimbach. Cannon made the winning pass using the inside line entering turn three on the 12th circuit. The caution flag unfurled on lap 14 when Shultz and Beidleman collided in turn four while battling for third, regrouping the field.

For the final laps of the race, Cannon was able to stretch his lead while M. Heimbach, eighth-place starter Larry Kelleher, 11th-place starter Blane Heimbach, and ninth-place starter Nate Snyder raced in the top five, the way they finished the race at the checkered flag.
