McCLELLAND BACK ON TOP OF THE ALL-TIME WIN LIST AT TRAIL-WAY

Hanover, PA (06/11/10) – “I bet that was painful to watch.”

So said Brad McClelland after claiming his third win of the year in Friday’s crash-marred 25-lap “358” sprint car feature at Trail-Way Speedway.

The York County Racing Club Night feature included nine caution flags, two red flags, and two fuel stops.

McClelland, who moved to the top of the all-time win list with his 23rd career win, came from 11th starting spot to grab the lead from Brian Bruckner on lap 16. Moments later, Michael Ruttkamp flipped on turn three and Bruckner spun while running second in turn two.

“The track slicked off for the feature and I don’t know if I would have caught him had he not broke,” said McClelland. Bruckner retired from the event with steering problems.

The first red flag of the event came out for six-car melee in turns one and two of the first lap. Outside front row starter Tim Stallings spun in front of the field, with Dale Hammaker rolling onto his side. He was able to continue, but Joe Trone, Jr. was done for the night.

Once the race restarted, polesitter George Streaker, Jr. led the first three laps before Bruckner dove under the #17G coming off turn four of lap four. Bruckner led the next 12 laps before McClelland took the lead for good.

Ninth-starting Logan Schuchart assumed second after Bruckner’s spin, and ran there the rest of the way, with Kyle Moody coming from 12th-starting spot to cross third, 13th-starting Tim Wagaman fourth, and 23rd-starting Scott Geesey completing the top five. Sixth through tenth were Adam Lawrence, Keith Prutzman, Randy Davis, Jr., Mike Bittinger, and 19-starting Scott Fisher.

Bittinger lost a front wing after contact with another car on lap ten, dove to the pits to make repairs, and came from the rear for his ninth-place finish.

“I’ve given Brad enough of these (pewter plates) to feed two families!” said York County Racing Club Vice President Sam Murphy in victory lane.

Brad noted that the first pewter plate given to his family was one given to his dad many years ago.

Heats for the 29 “358” sprint cars on hand were won by McClelland, Trone, and Bruckner.

Trevor Little won the consolation event.

4 point races this weekend.

There will be 4 chances this week to score points for the Central PA 358 Point Series presented by HTMA.

Friday night Trail Way Speedway will be the only track racing the 358 sprinters. They will be having a normal Friday night show.

Saturday night Selinsgrove is back in action at a new start time of 7:30 with the 358 sprinters in action. Lincoln Speedway will also play host to the 358 sprints. They will be there as a support division for the ASCoC.

Sunday will see the 3rd annual 358 race at Susquehanna Speedway. Pat Cannon and Adrian Shaffer have won the first two races that have been held at the track.

With all the racing on tap this week there could be some major shakeups in the points chase. Good luck to all the teams this weekend.
