Only 2 races this weekend.

Only 2 races this weekend for the 358 division and they are on different nights.

The 358 division will be in action at Williams Grove Speedway Friday night. They will be the only track in the area running the class as Trail Way Speedway has given the teams the week off.

Saturday night Lincoln Speedway will host the teams in a normal feature. Selinsgrove Speedway will be off this week as well, so I wonder how man cars will make the trip and try to qualify and collect some more Central PA 358 Point Series point.

Good luck to all the teams racing this weekend.

Snyder Sets Off Own Fireworks With Last Lap Pass For Win

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Nate Snyder of Halifax made a last-lap, final-turn pass by Pat Cannon of Etters to win the ninth annual Middleswarth Potato Chips Firecracker Special for 358 sprint cars at Selinsgrove Speedway Saturday night.

For Snyder, driving the Pro Lawn/Expert Settlement Services No. 56, the $2,000 victory in the 30-lap race marked his second of the season and the 16th of his career at Selinsgrove. Snyder previously won the Firecracker race as a 40-lap contest in 2005. His win Saturday night also ended the four-race winning streak held by Cannon, who was the night’s fast qualifier for the fourth time this season with a lap of 18.236.

In the sprint car feature, third-place starter Davie Franek powered into the lead on the first lap. The caution flag unfurled for the only time during the event after the completion of the first lap when Josh Beard and Alan Spriggle stopped in turn two. When the race resumed, Franek stretched his lead over polesitter Brian Nornhold and second-place starter Jason Shultz.

On lap three, the No. 3 driven by Pat Cannon rocketed into the third position. Cannon then passed Nornhold for second on the sixth lap. Nate Snyder, who started seventh, advanced to third using the high line of the speedway on the seventh circuit.

By lap eight, the leaders began to encounter slower traffic, creating a close, high-speed chase for the lead between Franek, Cannon, and Snyder. On the 15th circuit, Snyder made a thrilling outside pass by both Cannon and Franek for the lead exiting the second turn.

While Snyder set a torrid pace, Cannon kept the new leader in his sites. Racing down the backstretch, Cannon took the lead for first time with an inside pass by Snyder on the 19th circuit.

With five laps remaining, it appeared to be Cannon’s race as he began to distance himself from Snyder in traffic. On the final lap, however, Snyder quickly gained real estate and made a breathtaking pass by Cannon racing off turn four for the lead and win by just .06 of a second. Cannon settled for second with Franek, Blane Heimbach, and TJ Stutts rounding out the top five.

WORLD ENERGY SYSTEMS, LINCOLN SPEEDWAY ANNOUNCE BIGGEST-PAYING 358 SPRINT CAR SHOW EVER

World Energy Systems World Championship for 358 Sprints" to pay winner $5,500 on August 7th

ABBOTTSTOWN, PA - With space-age technology intended to help homeowners reduce energy bills, increase energy efficiency, and live more comfortably, World Energy Systems thinks big.

And its latest idea is simply out of this world.

World Energy Systems and Lincoln Speedway have teamed up to announce the biggest show in 358 sprint car history.

The inaugural 30-lap "World Energy Systems World Championship for 358 Sprint Cars" to be run on Saturday, August 7, 2010, will offer a $5,500 increase over the normal Lincoln purse and pay $5,500 to the winner.

The number "55" is an important part of the World Energy Systems message, representing the percentage of energy savings homeowners can expect in electric and gas bills.

World Energy Systems is introducing radiant reflector technology developed by NASA over 40 years ago to protect astronauts in the Apollo program from temperatures that ranged from 250̊F to -460̊F. This reflective insulation has been applied to every spacecraft since then, including unmanned spacecraft with delicate instruments that need protection from extreme temperatures.

And it’s the same technology World Energy Systems uses in consumers’ homes today, reducing heat transfer from attic to living spaces, extending the life of air conditioning units, and retaining heat generated indoors during winter months. World Energy Systems also offers garage door insulation kits, water heater insulation, Earth Massage showerheads, and EvoLUX LED light bulbs.

With the previously-scheduled Lincoln 358 sprint car championship slated to pay $1,500-to-win, World Energy Systems has provided an extra $4,000 to the winner, making the winner’s share the highest ever paid in the 358 sprint car division.

"We’re very excited to become title sponsor of what we hope becomes a major annual event for the 358 sprint cars," said Scott Fernbaugh, marketing manager for World Energy Systems, which has its home office in Greencastle, PA, "We hope the night will showcase the car we sponsor (the #34 car of Austin Reed), and the many cost-cutting solutions we offer for home energy needs in an environmentally friendly manner."

The "World Energy Systems World Championship for 358 Sprints" will begin with time trials at 7:00 PM. Thundercars and 305 sprints are also on the card. Gates for the show open at 5:00 PM.

The "World Energy Systems World Championship for 358 Sprints" carries a September 11th rain date.

GEESEY CLAIMS “ARCH NIGHT” WIN IN LINCOLN 358 SPRINT MAIN

ABBOTTSTOWN, PA , 7/3/2010 - There was no catching Scott Geesey in the 20-lap "358" sprint car feature at Lincoln Speedway Saturday night.

Geesey started on the pole and led every lap en route to his first win of the season, becoming the seventh different winner in eight 2010 events at the Pigeon Hills oval.

Third-starting Chad Trout was scored second every lap, and pulled alongside the Credit Connection #18 several times. But with a narrow track, Trout was never able to muster up the traction to make the pass.

"I kinda knew that with Chad behind me, he wasn’t going to try anything dumb," said a happy Geesey in victory lane, "If he was leading, he would have know the same thing."

"With the track the way it was, it was just rubber down, and you gotta get to the lead first," continued Geesey, "I’m just happy to win. The other week I thought we were going to win and Stevie (Storrie) beat me out, and he did a real good job. Chad a heck of a racer and all-around great guy at the race track and away from the race track. It’s great to beat him, but it wouldn’t have bothered me to run second to him."

Trout settled for second, with Tim Wagaman, Keith Prutzman, and Logan Schuchart completing the top five. Sixth through tenth were 12th-starting Brook Weibley, Scott Fisher, Eric Tomecek, Billy Johns, and John Barnett.

It was Geesey’s second career Lincoln 358 sprint win, to go along with one 410 win in the Pigeon Hills.

Heats for the 43 "358" Sprints were won by Barnett, Geesey, Jay Galloway, and Wagaman. Twin consolations were won by Adrian Shaffer and Steve Owings.
