Boland drives away from field in "358" sprint car feature
Dover's Matt Boland was the class of the field in the 20-lap "358" sprint car feature. Boland started fifth, passed polesitter and race-long leader Nick Palmerino on lap four, and raced away to his second career Lincoln win. The only thing that kept the rest of the field close was a last-lap restart after Boland made contact with a car at the back of the lead lap in turn three of the final lap. Billy Dietrich came from 10th-starting spot to drive under Austin Reed for second on the final restart, with Reed third. Logan Schuchart's fourth-place finish, coupled with Dale Hammaker's failure to qualify after flipping in his heat, pulled Schuchart into a tie with Hammaker (3,505 points each) entering the final 358 point race of the year on September 11th. Adrian Shaffer came from 12th starting spot to cross fifth, with Steve Owings (nursing a sick motor), Tim Berkheimer, Eric Tomecek, 21st-starting Tim Wagaman, and Chris Shuttlesworth completing the top ten. Heat for the 37 "358" Sprints were won by Jan Luckenbaugh, Shuttlesworth, Boland, and Michael Ruttkamp. Twin consolations were won by Mike Bittinger and Glenndon Forsythe.KEIZER ALUMINUM WHEELS 358 SPRINTS Feature (20 Laps) - 1. 22T-Matt Boland; 2. 88-Billy Dietrich; 3. 34-Austin Reed; 4. 1S-Logan Schuchart; 5. 91-Adrian Shaffer; 6. 35-Steve Owings; 7. 50-Tim Berkheimer; 8. 11T-Eric Tomecek; 9. 1-Tim Wagaman; 10. 50-Chris Shuttlesworth; 11. 2J-Billy Johns; 12. 5T-Glenndon Forsythe; 13. 8R-Michael Ruttkamp; 14. 66H-Doug Hammaker; 15. 99-Jan Luckenbaugh; 16. 51N-Nick Schlauch; 17. 7C-Chad Trout; 18. 27-Jay Galloway (DNF); 19. 99F-Derek Frohlich; 20. 00-Mike Bittinger (DNF); 21. 15B-John Barnett (DNF); 22. 16-Arron Spahr (DNF); 23. HEIMBACH & CANNON SPLIT WINS IN URC & 358 SPRINT CAR FEATURES

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Selinsgrove Speedway regulars Blane Heimbach of Selinsgrove and Davie Franek of Wantage, N.J., finished one-two in the 25-lap Rislone United Racing Company (URC) 360 sprint car feature event Saturday night.
The win was the third of Heimbach’s career in URC-sanctioned competition. He also has a 358 sprint car win at the speedway this season and remains in contention to clinch his third career track championship with four point races remaining in 2010.
In the 25-lap 358 sprint car feature, Pat Cannon of Etters, who withdrew from the URC sprint car feature earlier in the night, drove to his eighth victory of the season and 24th of his career at the track. With the win, Cannon reclaimed the lead in the A&A Auto Stores 358 sprint car point standings entering next weekend’s racing action.
Selinsgrove Speedway will present a four-division show of 358 sprint cars, late models, pro stocks, and roadrunners at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28.
Second-place starter Josh Weller powered into the lead at the start of the URC sprint car feature. Weller was closely chased by polesitter Kevin Nouse and sixth-place starter Becca Anderson. By lap six, 11th-place starter Blane Heimbach advanced to fourth, while fifth-place starter Jonathan Swanson raced fifth.
On the 10th lap, Heimbach motored his way into third as 12th-place starter Davie Franek followed him into the fourth position. Heimbach passed Anderson for second on the 17th lap and set his sites on Weller. Using the inside lane through turns one and two on lap 18, Heimbach put his No. 12 into the lead while Franek stuck with him and stormed into second.
On the final lap, the rear end broke on Anderson’s car, sending it into a wild spin on the frontstretch and setting up a chase to the checkered flag. For the final lap, Heimbach held off Franek and company and posted an .81 of a second margin of victory. Weller, URC point leader J.J. Grasso, and Curt Michael completed the top five.
In the caution-plaqued 358 sprint car feature, original third-place starter Bob Beidleman found himself on the pole position on the third attempt to restart the race. Beidleman drove into the early lead, with fifth-place starter Ryan Kissinger and original fourth-place starter Matt Horst in pursuit.
On the fifth circuit, ninth-place starter Pat Cannon rocketed into the second position and dueled with Beidleman for several laps for the lead. On lap seven, Cannon pulled into the lead with an inside pass in turn three. By the halfway point of the race, Cannon stretched his lead to a straightaway over Beidleman, Kissinger, seventh-place starter Phil Walter, and 12th-place starter Davie Franek.
The race was stopped on lap 14 for light rain. When the race resumed, Cannon quickly pulled away from the field. Blane Heimbach, who had to restart the race at the rear of the field following a flat tire change on the first lap, rocketed his way into the top five with six laps remaining.
