SPAHR CLAIMS TRAIL-WAY INSINGER FUELS SPRING CHAMPIONSHIP FOR 358’S

Hanover, PA (04/29/11) – York’s Aaron Spahr celebrated his 19th birthday in style by claiming the $1,200-to-win Insinger Fuels 358 Sprint Car Championship at Trail-Way Speedway Friday night.
And he did it by running the last 14 laps without a header, which fell off the right side of his motor and dropped onto the fourth turn of lap 12. The header actually forced a caution when Randy Whisler ran over it and shredded a tire.
“I heard Wayne (Harper) telling me on the raceceiver that my header was off, but I wasn’t giving up on it,” said Spahr upon exiting his Bath Fitter #16 in victory lane, “I wanted to get it over with.”
After a first-lap red flag for a five-car crash that led to a Steve Storrie flip into the catch fence in turn three and involved the sprinters of opening night winner Steve Owings, Cris Eash, Joe Trone, Jr., and Randy Whisler, Spahr took the lead from his outside front row starting spot and led every lap.
Other than Storrie, the other drivers were able to continue and tagged the rear for the restart.
Despite good racing in behind, Spahr was never seriously challenged, crossing 2.15 seconds ahead of Logan Schuchart.
Schuchart, after setting a track record in his qualifying event, advanced from his sixth starting position (after the original restart) to catch Tim Wagaman in turn two of the 24th lap to finish in the runner-up spot. Wagaman, who started fifth, settled for third, with eighth-starting Jeff Rohrbaugh and 11th-starting Dale Hammaker rounding out the top five.
Sixth through tenth were polesitter Jessie Morrison, Eash, Owings, rookie Austin Hogue (who started on the last row), and last-row starter Joey Allen.
Heats for the 22 “358” sprinters on hand were won by Schuchart, Billy Dietrich, and Joe Trone.
Dietrich and Tim Berkheimer were both uninjured in a double-flip on turn two of lap four in the feature.

Jason Shultz Holds Off Stutts For First Win Of 2011
Mach I Chassis Stays Undefeated In 358 RanksSELINSGROVE, Pa. – Jason Shultz of Carlisle inherited the lead from Pat Cannon of Etters on the fifth lap of the 25-lap 358 sprint car feature Saturday night at Selinsgrove Speedway and scored his first win of the season behind the wheel of the Mach 1 Chassis No. 1. The $1,500 victory marked the fifth of Shultz’s career at the track.
Point leader Blane Heimbach of Selinsgrove, who was seeking his third consecutive win, finished third, while TJ Stutts of Liverpool settled for second. Ironically, all three drivers were competing in a Mach 1 Chassis.
Tony Adams of Sunbury came away with his first late model victory since the 2009 season following a spirited battle with Jeff Rine of Danville in the division’s 25-lap main event. Adams made a last-lap pass by Rine just as Rine’s car began to lose an engine. The win marked the 14th of Adams career at Selinsgrove.
Nate Kerstetter of Liverpool scored a convincing win in the 15-lap pro stock feature, while defending champion Ricky Bender of Jolliett took the win in the 12-lap roadrunner race.
Selinsgrove Speedway will present the 10th annual Pro Stock 20 at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 30, plus a complete program of 358 sprint cars, late models, and roadrunners. Track gates will open at 5 p.m. The Pro Stock 20 will pay $1,000 to win and $100 to start the division’s annual headline event.
Polesitter Pat Cannon powered into the lead at the start of the sprint car feature and was chased by second-place starter Matt Horst. On the fifth circuit, fourth-place starter Jason Shultz moved into the second position while Cannon continued to stretch his lead. A lap later, however, Cannon’s inside wing panel began to peel away and he withdrew from the race.
With Shultz setting the pace, Horst contended with sixth-place starter TJ Stutts for the runner up position. Stutts advanced to second on the 12th lap while eighth-place starter Blane Heimbach followed him into the third position. Lap after lap, Heimbach challenged Stutts for the spot to no avail. At the checkered flag, Shultz was victorious by just one second over Stutts, Heimbach, Horst, and Larry Kelleher.
