DIETRICH FOURTH WINNER IN FOUR RACES IN TRAIL-WAY “358” SPRINTS

Hanover, PA (05/13/11) –Billy Dietrich put on a clinic in coming from ninth starting spot to claim his first Trail-Way win of the year in the 25-lap “358” sprint car feature Friday night.

In doing so, he became the fourth winner in as many races in 2011.

“That was a pretty good race,” said Dietrich upon exiting his Racers Used Parts Warehouse/Miner’s Machine Shop #8 in victory lane, “Mike (Duncan) was running really good, and I was just trying to run my line. I thought I could get him with a run off turn two...”

Dietrich did get a good run off turn two, but made the race-winning pass by driving around Duncan in turns three and four of lap 15. From there, he ran away from the field, scoring his second overall win of the season.

Dietrich entered the top five by the end of the third lap, caught Joe Trone, Jr. for fourth on lap five, assumed third when Keith Prutzman dropped from the field during a seventh-lap caution, and passed Randy Whisler for the runner-up spot on lap eight.

Duncan ran a good race as well, starting third and taking the lead from polesitter Whisler on the fourth lap. He led until Dietrich caught him on the 15th-lap restart, and crossed second, with Trone, Dale Hammaker, and tenth-starting Jeff Rohrbaugh completing the top five.

Rounding out the top ten were Tim Wagaman, Cris Eash, Arron Spahr (who came from the back after a first lap caution involving himself and JB Cunningham), Whisler, and Joey Allen.

Heats for the 21 “358” sprinters were won by Whisler, Spahr, and Duncan.

Glenndon Forsythe makes it six winners in six races in "358" sprints

Glenndon Forsythe became the sixth different winner in as many races in the 20-lap "358" sprint car feature.

Forsythe started sixth and caught polesitter and race-long leader Logan Wagner for the lead just before the first caution of the event came out for a Mike Duncan, Jr. spin in turns three and four of lap nine. Duncan also collected Dale Hammaker, but both cars were able to continue.

Despite torrid racing in behind, Forsythe never gave up the lead. On lap 19, Wagner brought out the red after jumping the cushion and riding the wall through turns one and two. Eighth-starting Jeff Rohrbaugh assumed second for the restart, with Billy Dietrich coming from the back after a seven-car tangle on the opening lap to cross third. Logan Schuchart and Tim Wagaman completed the top five, with Michael Ruttkamp, Keith Prutzman, 24th-starting Chad Trout, Nathan Berwager, and alternate starter Billy Pauch, Jr. rounding out the top ten.

Heats for the 33 "358" Sprints were won by Wagner, Ruttkamp, Rohrbaugh, and Dietrich, with Niki Young winning the consolation.
