Scott FISHER SCORES FIRST CAREER WIN IN TRAIL-WAY “358” SPRINTS

Hanover, PA (06/24/11) – Leave it up to fan favorite Scott Fisher to jokingly look at the down side of a first career win.

“Unless you’re a rookie, starting on the front row at this point in the year means you’re not having a good season,” said a jubilant Fisher upon exiting his Pitzer Trucking/Thomas Motorsports #21 in victory lane, “But there are a lot of great drivers here, and this place is tough.”

“That 52 kid…Austin Hogue…is going to be a great driver. He raced me clean the entire way. Then I saw the 66 on the scoreboard. Everyone is great here. Anyone can win from the front row. Now I need to win from further back.”

The 2010 Trail-Way rookie of the year started second, grabbed the lead from polesitter Jacob Allen at the start, and turned his season around two days before his birthday by leading the entire way.

“We blew up five times so far this year,” said Fisher, “I owe this win to Ron Thomas, who has put a lot of money into this operation this year.”

As if that wasn’t enough, Fisher’s likeness was also one of the winner’s of Trail-Way’s poster contest at intermission, an event sponsored by Speedway 94, which provided prizes to all the kids who participated.

Austin Hogue, who started fourth and joked a few weeks ago that it’s good he started on the front row because he hasn’t yet learned to pass cars, did pass two cars…passing Allen for the runner-up spot on lap six. He ran second the rest of the way, with Dale Hammaker coming from eighth starting spot to finish third.

Points leader Jeff Rohrbaugh advanced from 12th starting spot to finish fourth, with ninth-starting Cris Eash completing the top five.

Sixth through tenth were Billy Dietrich, 17th-starting Steve Storrie, Allen, Randy Whisler, and Todd Berkheimer.

Heats for the 18 “358” sprinters were won by Eash and Berkheimer.

Logan Schuchart Gets Second In 358s

Logan Schuchart watched as leader Tim Berkheimer spun with seven laps completed, handing control to Rodney Westhafer in the 358 sprint main while he held down the fourth spot. Westhafer was still in control with nine laps to go when a restart found Schuchart on his bumper for the return to action. The green flag was all Schuchart needed to see following the caution period as he quickly took the lead from Westhafer before pulling away to what ended up a straightaway lead at the finish.

Westhafer held on to second followed by Rich Eichelberger, Pat Cannon and Kevin Nouse.Sixth through 10th went to Amy Ott, Davie Franek, Nate Hammaker, Chad Trout and Brian Garland. Heats went to Adrian Shaffer, Tim Berkheimer and Bill Schoffstall with Eric Tomecek taking the consolation race.

Jay Galloway claims first of career,Jeff Rohrbaugh takes first of the year in "358" sprint features

After a pair of "358" sprint car features, Lincoln has now seen ten winners in ten races.

Jay Galloway took the lead from polesitter Steve Storrie on lap four and dominated en route to his first career sprint car win in the regularly scheduled 20-lap feature. Galloway’s final margin of victory was 1.39 seconds over sixth-starting Glenndon Forsythe, with eighth-starting Niki Young, Austin Reed, and 12th-starting Jeff Rohrbaugh completing the top five.

"I’ve won a lot of motorcross races," said a jubilant Galloway upon exiting his Helicopter Applicators #27, "But there’s nothing like racing a sprint car. My wife keeps reminding me that I don’t do this for a living, because if I did, we’d be poor!"

Earlier in the evening, Jeff Rohrbaugh ended a personal dry spell by winning his first race of the year in a thrilling 20-lap "358" sprint car makeup feature from June 4th. The win was worth $1,200, thanks to an extra $200 put in the purse by Pat Sterner and Don Althoff from Sterner Memorial Night.

Rohrbaugh started tenth and was already running third by the time the only caution of the event came out for Austin Reed, who came to a stop on turn three of lap three. Rohrbaugh caught Travis Willow for second on the restart, and then moved past polesitter Isaac Sneeringer for the race lead on lap four.

But the race wasn’t over. On lap six, ninth-starting Dale Hammaker caught Sneeringer for second, and he immediately closed on Rohrbaugh. Hammaker caught the Shane Smith CTI/Flatwork Concrete #45 at the midway point and drove around Rohrbaugh for the lead on lap 11. Just when it looked like Hammaker would drive away, the leaders approached lapped traffic and Hammaker got caught up behind a lapped car, handing the lead back over to Rohrbaugh on lap 14.

As those two raced for the lead, eighth starting Chad Trout closed and made it a three-car race for the win.

Trout was actually scored second on lap 16, but Hammaker reclaimed the runner-up spot on lap 17 and closed again on Rohrbaugh before hitting the outside guardrail on the front stretch of lap 19. Trout moved back into second, and 15th-starting Niki Young caught Hammaker for third on the final lap.

Rohrbaugh’s final margin of victory was 1.32 seconds over Trout. Hard charger Billy Dietrich came from 20th starting spot to finish fifth.

Heats for the 34 "358" sprinters were won by Young, Forsythe, Ted Thomas, Jr., and Tim Wagaman, with Scott Fisher winning the consolation.
