CRIS EASH HOT IN 358 SPRINTS

Hanover, PA (07/22/11) – “It’s been a rough night. It did cool down a little, but MAN IT’S HOT IN THAT CAR!” exclaimed Cris Eash after winning the 25-lap 358 Sprint Car feature Friday at Trail-Way Speedway.
“We’ve had a good car all year, but it’s been tough to pass.” said Eash of his West Shore Printing/Cromer’s Electric sponsored #10W, although he’s had 9 top tens in 10 features.
Eash started fourth and was leading when the red flag came out for Joe Trone, Jr. before the completion of the second lap. Trone got out of shape in turn two, but kept the car going until two cars in front of Trone also got out of shape, leading to Trone’s flip on the backstretch. Trone was uninjured but took his damaged sprinter to the pit area.
Polesitter Matt Boland, who took the lead on the start, was put at the point for the restart. Boland led lap two before Eash found his way into the lead. From there, Eash pulled away from the field like a rocket. Eash entered lapped traffic on lap 7 and had a 4.09 second lead and 4 lapped cars between himself and Boland by lap eleven.
Eash was slowed when the caution came out on lap 14 for a tractor tire that was hit by a driver and was on the track in turn four. On the restart, Eash pulled away and Billy Dietrich took the second spot from Boland.
The final caution flew on lap 20 when Boland lost his right rear wheel and came to a stop in turn four. Eash once again drove away from the field to win his second feature of the season by 4 seconds over second place finisher Dietrich.
“Anytime you’re standing out here(in victory lane), it’s a good night.” said Eash.
“Missing those two races just killed us in the points.” Going into tonight’s races, Eash was fifth in points even though he missed a make-up feature and a regularly scheduled feature to attend his son’s high school graduation. But Eash plans to come out every week and do his best.
Rounding out the top five were Tim Wagaman, 11th-starting Jeff Rohrbaugh, and Dale Hammaker. Sixth through tenth were Logan Schuchart, 12th-starting Mike Bittinger, Randy Whisler, Randy Davis, Jr. and Scott Fisher.
Heats for the 24 358 Sprint Cars were won by Wagaman, Boland, and Rohrbaugh.

AUGUST 6TH LINCOLN PROGRAM WILL BE A 358 SPRINT CAR CHAMPIONSHIP, BUT NOT A “WORLD” CHAMPIONSHIP; LOSS OF SPONSORSHIP FORCES PROMOTERS TO DOWNGRADE EV
ABBOTTSTOWN, PA –Although the August 6th “358” sprint car race at Lincoln Speedway will be a championship event, it won’t be the “World Championship” nor offer the huge winner’s share that the track paid last year and was hoping to offer again in 2011.
So that teams can make plans accordingly, Lincoln Speedway has announced that the loss of sponsorship from World Energy Systems has forced promoters to downgrade the event.
“We are very embarrassed by the whole thing,” said Lincoln Public Relations Director Wayne Harper, who said that several attempts to contact World Energy Systems over the past month have been unsuccessful.
“World Energy Systems committed back in February to sponsoring the event for a second straight year,” said Harper, “But they have not returned repeated calls and emails to set a meeting to organize this year’s race.”
“We feel very bad, but we know that a number of race teams plan their schedule based on the prize money offered, and wanted to get the word out with enough time for all race teams to understand that the August 6th championship event will likely pay $1,500 to win,” said Harper.
“This unfortunate development reminds all of us how very important sponsorship support is to our sport,” continued Harper, “And such sponsorship is constantly secured and lost at all levels of racing.”
Harper said that while World Energy Systems has dropped its sponsorship, Lincoln will continue to actively search for a championship event sponsor, which, if secured, would result in additional prize money for the August 6th show.

SCHUCHART WINS ANOTHER $2G IN 358 SPRINT CARS
Teenager Logan Schuchart of Hanover won his second race in three weeks at Selinsgrove in the 25-lap 358 sprint car feature and strengthened his lead in the overall Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic point series. Schuchart, who now has five wins in 2011, collected $2,000 for each of his wins at the track and is expected to be in the field again on July 23.
Selinsgrove Speedway will present a 30-lap summer championship race for late models paying $2,000 to win plus 358 sprint cars, pro stocks, and roadrunners at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 23, sponsored by A&A Auto Stores. Max Media radio stations B98.3 and Y106.5 will be hosting a live remote at the track prior to the start of the racing program.
Outside front row starter Duane Mausteller powered into the lead at the start of the sprint car feature and was chased by third-place starter Brian Nornhold for the first lap. On the second circuit, fourth-place starter Matt Heimbach advanced to second while 10th-place starter Logan Schuchart followed him into fourth.
On the fifth lap, Schuchart made the winning pass by Mausteller using the inside lane coming off turn four. A lap later, ninth-place starter Blane Heimbach horsepowered his way into second. By lap 10, the leaders began to encounter slower traffic and at the midway point Schuchart was leading B. Heimbach, 12th-place starter Pat Cannon, 16th-place starter Colby Womer, and M. Heimbach.
A brief battle unfolded for second between B. Heimbach and Cannon on lap 16. Once B. Heimbach secured second he reeled in Schuchart in traffic. Following two laps of side-by-side racing for the lead, Schuchart began to stretch his lead and posted a 2.8 second margin of victory over B. Heimbach, Cannon, 11th-place starter Mark Smith, and 13th-place starter TJ Stutts.
