PRUTZMAN BECOMES 12TH WINNER IN 15 “358” SPRINT RACES AT TRAIL-WAY

Hanover, PA (08/05/11) –One youngster celebrating his third birthday calls him Keith “Pretzel.” And little Ethan was a happy young man Friday night, as Hamburg’s Keith Prutzman claimed his first win of the year in the 25-lap “358” sprint car feature at Trail-Way Speedway Friday night.

Prutzman started on the outside of the front row, followed polesitter Colt White for the first lap, and then assumed the lead in a bizarre turn of events when four cars, including the #45 of White, went to the pits with flat tires after several cars made contact in turns one and two of the original start.
All four drivers (White, Dale Hammaker, Mike Duncan, Jr., and Arron Spahr) returned to the rear of the field, but Joe Trone, Jr. went to the pits with front end damage and was done for the night.

Prutzman led the rest of the way, with ninth-starting Tim Wagaman crossing a close second and lady driver Jessie Morrison completing the top three.

“It’s easier starting up front, but that red (for a flipping Cris Eash in turn two of lap five) and all those yellows (five) made it tough,” said Prutzman upon exiting his Buck Rubs #28 in victory lane, “I knew all those good drivers were back there, and I knew it was close at the end.”

Close it was. The leaders were on the tail of the rest of the field at the end, and Prutzman’s comfortable lead evaporated to .26 seconds at the finish.

“We destroyed a car here a few weeks back,” said Prutzman, “And had motor problem last week. It’s good to be here.”

Points leader Jeff Rohrbaugh came from 12th starting spot to finish fourth, with 17th-starting Logan Schuchart rounding out the top five. Sixth through tenth were 11th-starting Billy Dietrich, Zach Euculano, Austin Hogue, Spahr, and J.B. Cunningham.

Heats for the 21 “358” sprinters were won by White, Prutzman, and Cunningham.

Kevin Nagy becomes 13th different winner in 13 races in "358" sprints

Kevin Nagy's crossover move in turn four as the leaders were coming through turn four to take the white flag proved to be the race-winner in the 20-lap "358" sprint car feature.

Nagy became the 13th different winner in 13 races in the division. He started on the outside of the front row and dogged polesitter and race-long
leader Chris Arnold before taking the lead on lap 19.

Arnold settled for second, with Tim Berkheimer, lady driver Brie Hershey, and 11th-starting Jeff Rohrbaugh completing the top five. Sixth through
tenth were Bill Dietrich, Ted Thomas, Jr., Tim Wagaman, Billy Pauch, Jr. (who came from 1ith starting spot after rolling the Bewley #23B onto its
side in his heat), and Isaac Sneeringer.

Rohrbaugh's fifth combined with Dietrich's sixth moved Rohrbaugh to within five points of Dietrich for the season-long points series lead heading into next Saturday's 358 sprint car championship event at Lincoln.

Heats for the 35 "358" sprinters were won by Chad Trout, Thomas, Berkheimer, and Rohrbaugh, with Niki Young coming from 11th starting spot to win the consolation after rolling onto his side in his heat.

“THE WHIZ” BECOMES 11TH WINNER IN 14 RACES IN TRAIL-WAY “358” SPRINTS

Hanover, PA (07/29/11) –Hanover’s Randy Whisler turned his season around with his first win of the year in the 25-lap “358” sprint car feature at Trail-Way Speedway Friday night. Whisler ended up behind the eight ball after destroying his car on opening night, but Friday night his 1996 Gambler was up to the challenge.

“The Whiz” started fourth and grabbed the lead from outside front row starter Mike Bittinger when Bittinger made contact with the lapped car of Cory Brockman on the backstretch of lap six.
“The track surface was wet but good,” said the jubilant Whisler after climbing our of his Pancho’s Racing Products/Whiz’s Lawn Care & Snow Removal/The Landing/York Oil & Lube sprinter and doing a wing dance in victory lane, “Had it been a two-groove track, it might have been a different story tonight.”

“I saw Cris (Eash)’s front tire up at my screen that one time, and I knew he got out of shape,” said Whisler, “I was actually expecting to see a yellow or red there, but Cris is a great driver and somehow steered out of it.”

Eash lost two spots when he got out of shape in turn two of lap 20, allowing tenth-starting Jeff Rohrbaugh to move into second and Bittinger to reclaim third.

Eash recovered to cross fourth behind Whisler, Rohrbaugh, and Bittinger. Tim Wagaman rounded out the top five, with Billy Dietrich, Joe Trone, Jr., Austin Hogue, Arron Spahr, and Matt Boland completing the top ten.

Dale Hammaker suffered some bumps and bruises in a third-turn flip on lap 12.

Heats for the 21 “358” sprinters were won Hogue, Trone, and Dietrich.
