Hanover, PA (8/26/10) - Jeff Rohrbaugh surprised some drivers en route to his first Trail-Way “358" sprint car win of the year on Friday night. Not that he won, but how he won. Rohrbaugh, who started 12th, went to the top side to pass cars on two different occasions to score his 23rd career Trail-Way win. “That’s not like me,” said Rohrbaugh upon exiting his CTI/Flat Work Concrete/Delco Signs #45 in victory lane, “But those guys were hugging the bottom.”
The first outside move came around Brian Allman to move into third on the front stretch to complete lap 14, and the second outside pass was his race-winning move around race-long leader Scott Fisher on lap 18. “Wow. I guess luckily, Cris (Eash) and Billy (Dietrich) didn’t make the cut (handicap inversion),” added Rohrbaugh, “We haven’t been struggling, but we just haven’t been winning.” As for the points lead, Rohrbaugh said, “It’s not over ‘til it’s over. Wins pay more than the championship, so we just want wins. The title will take care of itself.”
Rohrbaugh’s final margin of victory was 1.76 seconds over 16th starting Cris Eash, with Fisher settling for third, Steve Owings coming from 18th starting spot to finish fourth, and Keith Prutzman fifth. Sixth through tenth were Allman, Dale Hammaker, 21st-starting Billy Dietrich, 22nd-starting Logan Schuchart, and 19th-starting Tim Wagaman. Heats for the 27 “358" Sprints were won by Zach Euculano, Randy Whisler, and Prutzman, with Schuchart winning the consolation.

EASH STORMS TO THIRD WIN OF THE YEAR IN TRAIL-WAY 358 SPRINTS
Hanover, PA (8/19/10) - Hanover's Cris Eash came from tenth starting spot to claim his third win of the year in the 25-lap "358" sprint car feature at Trail-Way Speedway Friday night. And he did it by running down race-long leader Matt Boland with a low-side move in turn three of lap 17.
The race was marred by a five-car crash that resulted in three cars flipping, one bursting into a fireball, and one driver transported to the hospital for a check-up.
The race was marred by a five-car crash that resulted in three cars flipping, one bursting into a fireball, and one driver transported to the hospital for a check-up.
Boland took the lead from his outside front row starting spot, but the race was red-flagged when several cars got together at full-speed midway down the backstretch. The cars of Wes Irwin, Billy Dietrich, and Joe Trone, Jr. all flipped, with Irwin's car bursting into flames as it rolled to a stop entering turn three. The flames were quickly extinguished, and all three flip victims were injured. Also involved were the sprinters of Jordan
Givler and Ted Thomas, Jr., who was transported to an area hospital for a check-up.

When the race resumed, Boland drove out to a huge lead, which dwindled once he entered lapped traffic on lap 10. Eash raced wheel-to-wheel with several cars in the early laps and finally broke free into second as Boland hit lapped traffic. "Last week, Matt was checked out before his spin, and I didn't think I'd catch him," said Eash upon exiting his Bruckner family West Shore Printing #10W, "It's tough to sit in your car and wait all that time (during the red). But we kept our car loose tonight and the track was great. I want to thank Shawn (Norris) and Brian (Bruckner). They don't get the credit they deserve for keeping this car fast."
Other than a mid-race caution for Jessie Morrison, who spun backwards toward the wall in turn one, the final 24 laps went non-stop. Boland settled for second, with 12th-starting Jeff Rohrbaugh padding his points lead in third, Steve Storrie finishing fourth, and Austin Hogue completing the top five. Rounding out the top ten were Logan Schuchart, who was running fourth until shredding a tire coming off the final turn, Mike
Duncan, Jr., polesitter Brian Allman, Zach Euculano, and 20th-starting Kyle
Moody.
Moody.
Heats for the 24 "358" Sprints were won by Euculano, Boland, and Storrie.

KISSINGER WINS FIRST IN 358 SPRINTS IN 4-CAR SHOWDOWN
SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Ryan Kissinger of Bloomsburg came out the winner of a suspenseful four-car showdown in the final two laps of the 25-lap 358 sprint car feature Saturday night at Selinsgrove Speedway.
Kissinger, driving a Ford-powered sprint car, wired the field for his first career win but was pressured by several drivers for the lead most of the distance. Kissinger’s victory served as a fitting tribute to Ray Tilley, the speedway’s all-time career leading sprint car winner who passed away Friday. Like Kissinger, Tilley raced a Ford-powered sprint car, which carried him to 69 victories at the track in the 1960s.
Selinsgrove Speedway returns to racing action at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, with the rescheduled 13th Annual Late Model Open sponsored by Foss Jewelers plus 358 sprint cars, pro stocks, and roadrunners. The 30-lap Late Model Open will pay $5,000 to win and $300 to start. Track gates will open at 5 p.m.
Polesitter Ryan Kissinger drove into the lead at the start of the sprint car feature. Kissinger was chased and challenged for the lead by second-place starter Nyle Berkes for several laps while third-place starter Duane Mausteller kept the leaders in his sites.
The race was stopped on lap five when Pat Cannon crashed hard in turn four. Cannon, the leading feature winner this season, escaped injury.
On a lap seven restart, Kissinger was able to stretch his lead as seventh-place starter Eric Tomecek stormed into the second position and began to reel in Kissinger. A high-speed chase ensued in traffic as Kissinger held off Tomecek, Mausteller, 11th-place starter Logan Schuchart and Berkes in the top five.
With five laps remaining, Tomecek moved within striking distance of Kissinger as Schuchart advanced to third. Point leader and 10th-place starter Blane Heimbach also began to show speed and entered the top five.
The final caution flag of the event unfurled on lap 23 when Larry Kelleher’s car rolled to a stop in turn two, setting up a chase to the checkered flag. When the race resumed, it was an all-out war on wheels as Kissinger ran the top of the track while Tomecek, Schuchart, and Heimbach all raced in his shadow.
Racing off turn four, Kissinger took the checkered flag by the slimmest of margins over Tomecek. Schuchart, Heimbach, and Mausteller rounded out the top five in a close finish.

Mike Bittinger comes from 17th starting spot to grab first career 358 sprint win
Mike Bittinger, who has two career Lincoln "410" sprint wins, came from 17th starting spot to claim his first-ever Lincoln "358" sprint car feature
victory. In doing so, he became the first driver in recent memory to claim wins in both major sprint divisions in the same season.
Attrition helped Bittinger to the front, with nine cars involved in a turn four melee at the start. Bittinger actually received back bumper damage in
the incident, but kept moving and restarted 11th.
Polesitter Mark Strickler and fourth-starting Steve Storrie then made contact and spun on the ensuing complete restart, moving Bittinger up two
more spots for a third attempt to start the race.
When green flag laps were finally recorded, Logan Wagner led the first eight laps with Adrian Shaffer hot on his tail. But Shaffer made contact with Wagner's back wheel and broke in turn two of lap nine. On the restart, fifth-starting Keith Prutzman grabbed the top spot from Wagner with
Bittinger up to third. Bittinger caught Austin Hogue for second on the following lap, and began his pursuit of the leader.
Bittinger made the race-winning pass on lap 15, and was driving through the final turns when the caution came out for Doug Hammaker, who spun in turn two.
On the final restart, second-place Kevin Nagy, who caught Hogue on lap 17, ran out of fuel and dove into the infield. That gave Bittinger all the room he needed to claim the $1,000 win by 1.82 seconds over Prutzman, with Hogue, Tim Wagaman, and 18th-starting Jeff Rohrbaugh completing the top five. Rohrbaugh's top five finish, combined with Billy Dietrich's 17th-pace finish after being involved in two separate crashes (including the opening lap 9-car crash) vaulted Rohrbaugh into the Lincoln 358 sprint points lead.
Sixth through tenth were 22nd-starting Niki Young (whose car was also involved in the opening lap crash), 20th-starting Billy Pauch, Jr., Wagner,
Nathan Berwager, and Storrie.
Heats for the 37 "358" sprinters were won by Dietrich, Storrie, Prutzman, and Wagner, with Glenndon Forsythe winning the consolation.
Next Saturday night, August 27th at 7:30 PM, it will be 59TH Anniversary Show/John Gleim, Jr. Excavating Night featuring Twin 20-lap features for the 410 Sprinter, along with the Thundercars and Central PA Legends. Gates will open at 5:30 PM.
