Galloway makes it six winners in six races in 358 sprints

Jay Galloway became the sixth different winner in as many Lincoln races this season in the 20-lap 358 sprint car feature.

And it came at the expense of Friday night Trail-Way winner Shane Hoff, who started on the pole drove away from the field over the first 14 laps. But Hoff came to a stop in turn one after losing a rear-end during a 15th-lap caution. Ironically, the caution was brought out for fluid he had dropped onto the track.

Galloway, who started second, found himself in the lead, and paced the field the rest of the way, crossing .72 seconds ahead of sixth-starting Nathan Berwager. Third through fifth were Lincoln points leader Tim Wagaman, defending champ Jeff Rohrbaugh, and Cris Eash. Sixth through tenth were Austin Hogue, Tyler Ross, Tim Berkheimer, Todd Rittenhouse, Jr., and Jacob Allen.

Heats for the 32 “358” Sprinters on hand were won by Mike Bittinger, Rittenhouse, Jr., Hoff, and Niki Young, with Mark Strickler winning the consolation.

Rodney Westhafer For 1st In 358s

Westhafer started second in the 20-lap 358 sprint main and wired the field for the win, his first ever at Williams Grove. He had to fend off the challenges of seventh starter Eric Tomecek over the final 10 laps as the Abbottstown speedster pressured after zooming up to second by the third circuit.

It was after Westhafer had encountered the rear of the field that Tomecek was really able to close but Westhafer played it smart in traffic to hold onto his win. Brie Hershey came on in traffic late to sneak into second with Tomecek ending up third. Jacob Allen was fourth and Amy Ott rounded out the top five.

ROOKIE SHANE HOFF CLAIMS CAREER FIRST IN TRAIL-WAY 358 SPRINTS

Hanover, PA (05/18/12) –Former micro-sprint driver Shane Hoff shrugged off some bad luck by claiming his first career “358” sprint car win in the 25-lap feature at Trail-Way Speedway Friday night.
In doing so, the rookie became the seventh different winner in as many races this season.
“We had a few were gave away lately,” said Hoff upon exiting his Color Wheel Decorating Center/L&R Body #69 in victory lane, “I didn’t want that last caution to come out.  I knew Jeff was back there, but he was going to have to go around me, because I wasn’t coming off the bottom.”
Hoff, who became the fourth first-time Trail-Way winner of the season, started on the pole and led every lap.  He had led the first half of the race last Friday before dropping to the infield with a broken throttle link.
Fifth-starting Jeff Rohrbaugh passed J.B. Cunningham for second on lap nine, one lap before Cunningham hit the wall on turn four.  That brought out the red, and Rohrbaugh lined up on Hoff’s back bumper for the restart.  Despite repeated attempts, the defending Trail-Way champ was unable to get by Hoff.  He was among those in victory lane to congratulate the New Oxford driver on his first career win.
Crossing third through fifth were 11th-starting Brad McClelland, Tim Wagaman, and Mike Bittinger.
Sixth through tenth were Kyle Moody, Keith Prutzman, Randy Whisler, Joe Trone, Jr., and hard charger Mike Duncan, Jr. (who started 19th).
Heats for the 20 “358” sprint cars were won by Hoff and Whisler.
