MOODY FIRST REPEAT WINNER OF YEAR IN TRAIL-WAY INSINGER PERFORMANCE SPRING CHAMPIONSHIP
HANOVER, PA , 5/25/12 - "What a race, huh?"
So said Kyle Moody after becoming Trail-Way's first repeat winner in the 30-lap Insinger Performance "358" Spring Championship Friday night.
Moody claimed the $1,200 top prize after drawing the #1 pill, starting on the pole, and leading every lap, despite repeated challenges from several competitors over numerous caution flags during the event.
"I didn't know where everybody was," said Moody upon exiting his Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show #99M in victory lane, "When you're the leader, you're a sitting duck. This place is hard!"
The race-long challenges came from several drivers in heavy lapped traffic over the first 27 laps. First it was third-starting Cris Eash, who ran second until his tire starting losing pressure after contact with Austin Hogue while battling for position following a 28th-lap restart. Hogue took advantage of Eash's misfortune to move into second as Eash dropped back and eventually bobbled, spun sideways, and collected four other cars in turns one and two of the final lap.
Moody pulled away on the last-lap dash, crossing a half-second in front of Hogue.
The top ten cars raced nose-to-tail through heavy lapped traffic for the final third of the race. Brad McClelland came from ninth starting spot to finish third, with Mike Bittinger and 12th-starting Jeff Rohrbaugh completing the top five. Sixth through tenth were Tim Wagaman, Steve Owings, Randy Whisler, Brian Allman, and hard charger Wes Irwin (who started 24th).
Heats for the 28 "358" Sprints were won by Moody, Joe Trone, Jr., and Hogue, with Ryan Wilson winning the consolation.

Shultz Wins Fierce Battle At The Front For 358 Sprint Victory
SELINSGROVE, Pa. –
Jason Shultz of Carlisle held off Pat Cannon of Etters for his first win
of the season in the 25-lap 358 sprint car feature Saturday night at
Selinsgrove Speedway. Shultz, driving the Mach 1 Chassis No. 2, became
the fifth different winner in 358-360 sprint car competition at the
track this year.
Polesitter Colby Womer pulled into the lead at the start of the sprint car feature and was chased by third-place starter Duane Mausteller and second-place starter Cody Keller. On the second lap, Keller’s car fell off the pace while racing third and was able to rejoin the field at the back of the pack.
On the third circuit, fifth-place starter Phil Walter advanced to third and began to close in on Womer and Mausteller. On a lap seven restart, sixth-place starter Eric Tomacek spun in turn one while racing seventh. On the next restart, Womer continued to set a torrid pace until his car slowed on the backstretch on lap 13.
Mausteller inherited the lead as an intense race unfolded at the front of the pack in slower traffic during the second half of the event. Eighth-place starter Jason Shultz rocketed into the runner up position and raced wheel-to-wheel with Mausteller for several laps before securing the lead with an inside pass in turn two. With two laps remaining, 11th-place starter Pat Cannon stormed into second and made a last-ditch effort to snag the lead and win. At the finish, Shultz was victorious by just one second over Cannon, Mausteller, Walter, and TJ Stutts.
