SNEERINGER HOLDS OFF McCLELLAND FOR FIRST CAREER “358” SPRINT CAR WIN
So
said former micro-sprint driver Isaac Sneeringer after scoring his first
career “358” sprint car win at Trail-Way Speedway Friday night.
Handicapping
placed Sneeringer on the pole for the 25-lap feature. In the end, he
held off two of the biggest names in “358” sprint car racing to cross
first in the DCI/Todd Gosnell Paving/Gene Latta #19Z.
Duncanstarted
third and chased Sneeringer the first six laps before eighth-starting
Jeff Rohrbaugh claimed the runner-up spot on lap seven. Rohrbaugh was
reeling in the leader when the caution came out for Randy Whisler, who
stopped in turn four.
That
put Rohrbaugh on Sneeringer’s back bumper for the restart, and he chased
Sneeringer through the next three laps and two caution flags before
Rohrbaugh broke his suspension in turns one and two and came to a stop
in turns three and four of lap 13.
By then, 11th-starting Brad McClelland had advanced to third, and he assumed second for the restart.
But
Sneeringer, who has six career Trail-Way 600cc micro-sprints wins to his
credit, was up to the challenge, holding off McClelland over the final
11 laps to score his first sprint car win.
“Thank
God for the cautions!” said Sneeringer in victory lane, “I needed to
cool my tires down. I almost spun out about four times.”
“The track was in great condition,” added Sneeringer, “I love racing here. I’ll be back.”
Third through fifth behind McClelland were Austin Hogue, Mike Bittinger, and Kyle Moody.
Rounding out the top ten were Tim Wagaman, Steve Owings, hard charger Zach Euculano (who started 18th), Ashley Cappetta (the last car running at the end), and Wes Irwin.
Heats for the 20 “358” sprint cars were won by Duncan and Sneeringer.

Eric Tomecek wins over Wilson in 358 sprint championship
Tomecek of Abbottstown started 10th in the 25-lap 358 sprint
championship worth $1,200 to win. Todd Berkheimer took the early lead
from the second spot followed by Brian Garland. Eighth starter Ryan
Wilson drove into third on just the first lap and was soon followed by
Tomecek into fourth. The first 18 laps of the race went non-stop with
Wilson driving by Berkheimer for the lead with 10 away only to see
Tomecek follow him through and into second two laps later. Tomecek
quickly closed on Wilson and tried a 16th lap slider that failed,
allowing Wilson to reclaim control while leaving Tomecek a full
straightway back after he was able to recover from a brush by Wilson
that saw him loop his car and keep going.
Tomecek’s saving grace came with 18 in the books when the first
caution flag appeared and erased the massive advantage he had just given
Wilson when he looped his car. On the restart Tomececk took the lead
from Wilson but Wilson never gave up his bid for a career first Grove
win. He traded the lead several times with Tomececk, both before and
after a red flag with two to go for a flipping Brie Hershey. But in the
end, Tomececk took Williams Grove career victory number four. Wilson was
second followed by 15th starter Adrian Shaffer, Kevin Nouse and
Garland. Sixth through 10th went to Jay Galloway, Nate Hammaker, Rocky
Magaro, Dale Hammaker and Berkheimer. Heats for the 19-car field went to
Wilson and Tomecek. Williams Grove returns to action with back to back
nights of PA Speedweek action on July 5 and 6 at 7:30 pm.

Ryan Wilson claims first career wins in “358” sprints
Maytown’s
Ryan Wilson found himself the leader when polesitter Ted Thomas, Jr.
pulled up lame and went into the infield on lap nine, and went on to win
the first of his career in 20-lap “358” sprint car feature. In doing
so, Wilson became the ninth winner in nine Lincoln “358” sprint races
this year.
Sixth-starting
Austin Hogue assumed second when Thomas dropped from the field, but was
never able to mount a serious challenge. Hogue settled for second, with
Dale Hammaker, Todd Rittenhouse, Jr., and point leader Tim Wagaman
completing the top five. Sixth through tenth were Niki Young, Mike
Bittinger, Matt Findley, Jeff Rohrbaugh (who came from the back after a
tire change during an early-race caution), and 21st-starting Tim Berkheimer.
Heats for the 26 “358” Sprinters on hand were won by Thomas, Wilson, and Rittenhouse, with Tyler Ross winning the consolation.
